 BME Celebrates Red Ribbon Week Oct 23-27

Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon Campaign has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.

Browns Mill Elementary School celebrated School Bus Safety and Driver Appreciation Week on Thursday, October 19 to honor all DeKalb County School Bus Drivers and BME's own school bus drivers.  BME honored: Joann Muse, Beres Parchment, Kilolo Williams, Celeste Denard, Paul Dudley, Keatricia Montford, Gwen Foster, Tommie Littlejohn, Felicia Stewart, Keisha Sampson, and Tiffany Whitfield.

Dr. R. Stephen Green (DCSD Superintendent,) Mrs. Vickie B. Turner (DCSD Board
Member,Region IV), Mr. Joshua Williams (DCSD Chief Operations Officer), Mrs.
Triscilla Weaver (Regional Superintendent, Region IV) were on hand to help BME
celebrate National School Bus Safety Week.

The Chick-fil-A Cow paid a visit to Browns Mill Elementary School and brought goodie bags to five lucky students. The Chick-fil-A School Drive is a yearly event sponsored by the Wesley Chapel Chick-fil-A located at 2445 Wesley Chapel Rd, Decatur, GA. Marketing Director, Amber Young and Inside Sales Coordinator, Grace Lenge accompanied the cow to the school. The school supplies included a variety of items including pencils, crayons, erasers and other essential school supplies.

Parents can sign up for the Chick-fil-A Kids Club to experience fun activities, games and crafts. The site also has character traits that teach values like kindness and generosity.

Browns Mill Elementary School day begins at 7:30 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:15 p.m. School buses begin arriving by 6:45 a.m. Students are admitted into the school building beginning at 6:50 a.m. All students are expected to be seated and ready for instruction at 7:30 a.m.
